“HYGIENE AND SANITATION IN MEAT AND POULTRY HANDLERS CAMPAIGN UNDER EAT RIGHT SMART CITY” Held in Kissan Bhawan, Narwal Mandi, Jammu.

Hygiene and sanitation in meat and poultry handlers to help people serve safe and hygienic meat and poultry products to people of Jammu. This, campaign would help to develop an overall ecosystem for safe and nutritious food. Sh. Narinder Singh, Hon’ble Chairman, Health and Sanitation Standing Committee, JMC and Sh. Yash Pal Sharma, Hon’ble chairman, Swachh Bharat standing committee, JMC were the Chief Guest during the programme. Dr. Sushil Kumar Sharma, Municipal veterinary Officer was the organizer and function was presided over by Dr. Parvesh Kumar, Asstt. Commissioner, Food Safety, Jammu. Over 100+ stakeholders in the Meat and poultry products ecosystem from various parts of Jammu, participating in this event including corporates executive chefs and food handlers, academic experts, nutritionists and senior officials from government departments. A detailed presentation on "HYGIENE AND SANITATION IN MEAT AND POULTRY HANDLERS CAMPAIGN UNDER EAT RIGHT SMART CITY", was delivered by Satish Kumar, Senior Consultant from Mavis Food Tech, New Delhi demonstrated the basic techniques of meat cutting, equipment’s, area management and proper personal hygiene maintenance. The Chairman, Health and Sanitation Standing Committee, and Swachh Bharat standing committee, JMC both appreciated the efforts of Food Safety and MVO, JMC team for conducting such unique campaign of National Level in Jammu and also thanked various stakeholders who participated during the function. Meanwhile, they also directed the enforcement staff to conduct regular inspections and facilitate the food handlers with necessary guidelines. Further, they advised the stakeholders to maintain complete Meat and meat product hygiene for the safety of consumers and maintain proper sanitation in and around their shop premises to keep the Jammu city neat and clean. The function was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Parvesh Kumar. The food safety team comprising Food Safety officers, Zulfkar Ali, Parvez Ahmed, Rajesh Singh Jamwal and Raj Kumar provided the handful information regarding the campaign to the food handlers.
