Jammu Municipal Corporation celebrates “International Yoga Day – 2022” #Plastic Free Yoga Day Jammu Municipal Corporation celebrated “International Yoga Day – 2022” in collaboration with ‘Jammu development Authority’ and HDFC Bank at JDA Park, Ward No. 48, Near Bawe Wali Mata Mandir. The International Yoga Day theme 2022 was ‘Yoga for Humanity’, while JMC emphasized to make the event “Plastic free” by avoiding refreshments or any other material made up of plastic. The programme started with a message from Honorable Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta. In his message, Mayor JMC said, "World is fighting a pandemic of monumental scale but yoga provides multi-dimensional solutions to the multiple challenges Covid-19 has brought". He said, "Yoga offers something for everyone. It enables strong mind and health body". Welcoming the participants joining the celebration, Vice Chairman JDA – Pankaj Magotra (KAS) highlighted the unifying force of Yoga, its immense benefits and how the International Day of Yoga has become part of the global calendar. In these testing times, she said, "World needs Yoga and meditation more than ever". Commissioner JMC – Rahul Yadav (IAS) also emphasized on the habit of meditation for the peace of mind and the self-awareness which is necessary to survive in a stress-free environment. The Yoga Instructor - Ravi Chander Sharma and Malti Sharma from Agricultural department along with there students took the initiative and initially briefed about the essence of Yogic exercises on the health of individuals and thereafter, held a session with demonstration of asanas. Faculty, staff and students enthusiastically participated during the session. The participants were also introduced to Yogasanas, Kapalbhati, Pranayama, Dhyna, Sankalpa and Meditation. The live coverage of the programme was done by Radio Partners 91.9 Big FM. The overall management of the event ws done by AIILSG. The other dignitaries present in the celebration were – Additional CEO Jammu Smart City – Hitesh Gupta, Joint Commissioner (Adm.) – Pankaj JDA Officials, various Ward Corporators JMC, and NSS Volunteers from Govt. College of Education. The Yoga instructors were awarded with Certificates for there role in making the event a success via Meditation & various Yoga asanas.
