JMC Starts Composting at Aap Shambu Mandir Roop Nagar Jammu

Under the guidelines of Swachh Bharat Mission and on the instructions of Dr. Manmohan Singh, (KAS) Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation & Sh. R.S. Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC. Dr. Anita Salgotra, Health Officer JMC with the live demonstration & Technical advice from State Pollution Control Board Jammu start composting at Aap Shambu Mandir Roop Nagar Jammu.

Mrs. Anuradha Gupta, Scientist from State Pollution Control Board provide the live demonstration and technical assistance for composting. Besides this youth from nature club and Central University also participated in the composting process.

As large number of devotees use to visit Aap Shambu Mandir on daily basis and offered flowers and other allied items which can be used for composting. During the various visits of the temple it was observed that there was no proper disposal of these flowers and other items being offered by the devotees with their devotion, due to this nuisance is being created in and around the vicinity of the temple. Besides this there are number of trees in the premises of the temple and the leaves usually found scattered in the compound and lawn of the temple. For the proper use and disposal of these flowers and leaves of trees the composting process has been started in the temple.

The Pujari of the temple Sh. Dewarka Nath Jogi appreciated the authorities of Jammu Municipal Corporation and State Pollution Control Board for starting the Composting at the Aap Shambu Temple premises. He also assured that he take care of the composting and keep continue so that the material offered by the people disposed off properly and used further in the temple premises as a fertilizer.

In order to give a clean & green look in the vicinity of temple premises the composting has been started in the temple premises. It has been also decided that in near future the composting will be started in other temples as well as and in wards also.

The Health Officers, JMC thanks the Pujari and temple caretakers to cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation in starting composting and assured the possible assistance from Jammu Municipal Corporation to make the Temple green and green and garbage free.
