On the directions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Mr. M. Raju (IAS), a team from Jammu Municipal Corporation comprising of Assistant Commissioner (R), Mrs. Vinakshi Koul (KAS), Health Officer, Dr. Anita Salgotra, Chief Enforcement Officer, Sh. Rajesh Gupta, Revenue Officers, Sh. Parmod Kumar, Sh. Ashwani Sudan, Sh. Parveen Gupta , Sh. Sunil Gupta, Enforcement Inspectors and from Drugs & Food Control Organisation Designated Officer, Food Safety, Sh. Sanjeev Gupta Jammu Urban alongwith team of Food Safety Officers Sh. Ajay Khajuria, Sh. Dalip Singh, Sh. Jai Inder, Sh. Hem Raj constituted under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (A), Jammu Municipal Corporation Mr. R.S. Jamwal (KAS) to conduct a special drive against encroachments, sanitation and sale of unhygienic momos.
To redress a no. of complaints by the general public regarding encroachments and sale of unhygienic momos in various areas of Jammu City, the joint team of Jammu Municipal Corporation and Drugs & Food Control Organisation on 19.05.2017 conducted an intensive drive in the areas viz Kachhi Chawani, Exchange Road, Rehari, Sarwal, New Plot etc.
During the drive the team of Jammu Municipal Corporation removed encroachments and cleared the footpaths & pavements and team of Drugs & Food Control Organisation seized and destroyed approximately one quintal of unhygienic momos from the said areas and also seized their utensils used for preparing momos. During the drive, general public, students and civil society appreciated the joint move and also accompanied the team. The civil society also appeal to the department that such type of drives should also be conducted in near future.
MLC Sh. Ramesh Arora also participated in the drive and appeal to the general public and especially students to avoid consumption of momos which are unhealthy and serious threat to their health. The MLC appreciated the move of Jammu Municipal Corporation and Drugs & Food Control Organisation and appeal to Drugs & Food Control Organisation to continue the move against sale of unhygienic food articles in the city.
