Press release on 28th October 2017JMC conducts Anti Encroachment Drive
On the instructions of Mr. Ramesh Kumar (IAS), Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation and under the supervision of Ms. Veenakshi Koul (KAS), Asstt. Commissioner (Rev.), JMC, the Revenue Wing of the Corporation, while further continuing and intensifying the anti encroachment drive, visited the areas of Indira Chowk, K.C. Chowk, B.C. Raod, Maheshpura, Canal head, Gandi Nagar etc. to clear the footpaths, pavements and road side. During the drive the team removed all the goods/articles kept by the shopkeepers/vendors by encroaching the footpaths, pavements and road sides creating obstructions in the free flow of vehicular traffic and hindrance to the pedestrian and seized two truck loads of material. Besides, this the team also seized 11 reharies operating in non rehari zone and impounded the seized materials at Municipal Yard Town Hall Jammu.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to the shopkeepers and vendors not to encroach upon footpaths, pavements, road sides failing which strict action shall be taken against violators, as the encroachments lead to hindrances and creates lot of problems in free flow of vehicular as well as pedestrian movement.
