Press Release on 1st October 2018JMC organizes Rally in collaboration with Director, School Education, Jammu under Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign
In continuation to Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign, today Jammu Municipal Corporation organized Rally in collaboration with Director, School Education, Jammu by involving students of different schools viz. SRML Model Hr. Sec. School, Parade, Girls Hr. Sec. School, Mubarak Mandi, Jammu, Hari Singh Hr. Sec. School, Jammu, Central Basic Hr. Sec. School, Purani Mandi, Jammu, Jullaka Mohalla, Hr. Sec. School, Jammu etc. The Rally started from Ranbir Hr. Sec. School and culminated at Mubarak Mandi, Jammu by touching Parade, Moti Bazar, Pacca Danga, Chowk Chabutra etc. which was flagged off by Sh. Arvind Kotwal (KAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation and Sh. Rakesh Kumar Srangal (KAS), Director, School Education, Jammu. During the rally, the students as well as Officers/other staff of JMC and School Education Deptt. cleaned the whole route of rally, spreading slogans of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and also appealed the general masses to avoid the use of polythene carry bags. The refreshment was also provided to the participants of rally by the Jammu Municipal Corporation in association with J&K Bank Ltd.
Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Municipal Veterinary Officer gave a practical demonstration on Solid Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) wherein it was demonstrated as to how manage the household waste by keeping two coloured dustbins (Blue and Green) for dry and wet waste. He further displayed the methods for Solid Waste Management and waste segregation at source i.e. household level before the students as well as other participants of the Rally.
While speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation stated that since the charity begins at home, so, it is the duty of every citizen to put in every possible effort for maintaining proper sanitation and hygiene in their respective areas. He said that students are the future of the Country and without their participation, the goal of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is difficult to achieve. Although, the Jammu Municipal Corporation is working on its mandate to provide better sanitation but best results can be obtained with the co-operation and coordination of the common masses. He further appealed the students to take pledge for creating awareness about importance of Swacchhata at their individual level so the aim of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is achieved which is an initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
Among others, Sh. Pardeep Singh (KAS), Joint Commissioner (A), JMC Ms. Sunaina Sharma (KAS), Secretary, JMC, Sh. J.K. Sudan, Chief Education Officer, Jammu, Dr. Saleem Khan, Health Officer, Sh. Talat Mehmood Khan, Chief Transport Officer, JMC, Sanitation Officers/Revenue Officers, JMC, Principals/Lectures/Teachers of different schools and other staff of JMC and School Education Department, Jammu participated in the Rally.
