Press Release on 31st May 2021Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation launched Special Sanitation Drive in the areas Gujjar Nagar, Qasim Nagar, Sheikhpura Bahu Fort, University Road, near Raddison etc.
In addition to routine sanitation drive, JMC today launched Special Sanitation Drive on the directions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Ms. Avny Lavasa (IAS) in the areas Gujjar Nagar, Qasim Nagar, Sheikhpura Bahu Fort, University Road, near Raddison etc. The aim for launching this special sanitation drive is to contain the spread of corona virus during this drive every nook and corner of the areas falling within the jurisdiction of JMC shall be covered under the overall supervision of Dr. Sanjogita Soodan, Health Officer, JMC.
During the drive, thorough cleaning/desilting of the lanes/drains in all the areas was done. Besides sprinkling of lime was also done to beat the odour and foul smell during the drive. Additional men and machinery was also deployed during the drive.
The Commissioner, JMC appealed the people to cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation and use identified places for disposal of garbage. He also stressed to avoid use of polythene to the extent possible which is the major cause of blockage of drains and nallahs. She stressed for putting every possible efforts in achieving goal of making city Jammu Clean & Green and aim of Swachh Bharat Mission and also appealed to the general public at large to comply the guidelines/SOPs being issued by the Govt. with regard to Covid-19 Pandemic in letter and spirit and stay at home and avoid large gatherings in public places and make use of alcohol based hand sanitizers and masks as preventive measure and also to extend their full cooperation to Jammu Municipal Corporation.
