Press Release on 28th March 2022Jammu Municipal Corporation conducts a demolition drive under the provisions of J&K COBO Act, 1988.
On the directions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation undertook a demolition drive under the provisions of J&K COBO Act, 1988 at Channi Himmat and Old city – Kanak Mandi area. In Channi Himmat, the unauthorized erected pillars were demolished and walls raised on first floor of the structure were broken. In Kanak Mandi, a disputed floor slab was punctured by the electric drill machine and hammers and walls were also demolished as heavy machinery could not be deployed there due to congested streets. The whole exercise was done under the supervision of JMC Officials and in the presence of SDPO City and Duty Magistrate deployed by SSP Jammu & DC Jammu respectively.
In Surya Vihar Muthi area, the walls of residential house on 1st floor constructed without obtaining permission from JMC have been demolished by the Enforcement team of Jammu Municipal Corporation. The whole exercise was done under the supervision of JMC Officials and in the presence of SHO Domana and Duty Magistrate deployed by SSP Jammu & DC Jammu respectively.
The Commissioner, JMC further appeals to the general public to avoid undertaking illegal constructions, get their buildings plans approved from Jammu Municipal Corporation which is now much easier, as the online service is available for applying building permission at the door steps of applicants. The JMC is committed to taking strict step to ensure high standards of conduct are followed by its officials in the best interest of the Corporation.
